Waverley's CAP System

Objectives & GoalsEquipmentPricesVillage HallFire HallManorProgram Rules

In 2001, with the assistance of a grant from Industry Canada, the Waverley Ratepayers Association formed the CAP (Community Access Program) Subcommittee to set up public computer access nodes in the village core area. Three nodes are currently open, located at the Community Hall, the Fire Hall, and the Waverley Manor.

Members of the public wishing to book one hour sessions at the Waverley Community Hall or the Fire Hall can contact the node during office hours. When a node is not booked for a particular time, it is available for one hour sessions on a walk-in basis.

Objectives

The Waverley Cap Program committee aims to provide a non-profit, service for children, students, organizations, educators, tourists, youth, and the entire Waverley community with a high quality and affordable access to information technology, the Internet and training opportunities. We want to see the entire community of Waverley advancing along with the march of technology. As well we want to offer public computer facilities to people that do not have equipment of there own. We would like to see Waverley's four CAP sites being used for such things as reports, projects, letters, surfing the World Wide Web and for getting familiar with the Internet, learning E-Mail, and keeping in touch with people through the internet, learning the latest software, or just for people to have fun.

Objectives include:

• Computer literacy training

• Opportunities to upgrade work skills

• Technological access for non-profit organizations and the community

• Opportunities for small businesses to gain computer access to markets and to technical information

• Technical training to help improve the computer skills of local citizens

• Opportunities to bring tourists to our picturesque community
