Mission Statement WRA Meeting Minutes
Executives:
Faye Langille (Treasurer)
Charles Wagner (Community Services)
Jane Rathbun (Education)
Kevin O'Halloran (Gold Rush Day's)
Steven Saunders (Member at Large)
Ian Andrew (Member at Large)
The Waverley Ratepayers Association (WRA) has been active as a volunteer community organization for more than 25 years. Its past executive has included members from many of the older families of the village, as well as a good number of "new arrivals." The general aims of the WRA are community-focused and span a broad range of environmental and community development / welfare issues. The size and structure of the WRA executive has varied over the years. At one point it included a number of subcommittees with specific responsibilities for fire and safety, community infrastructure "care and feeding", and environmental monitoring of local lakes. Today's executive consists of about 7-9 individuals that represent the various sub regions of the community-at-large. Over the past several years, the WRA has become active in projects aimed at: 1. Enhancing the utility of the "village green" 2. Evaluating the need for additional sidewalks within the greater community, and 3. Establishing partnerships with organizations that are involved in projects that impact on the community in the broadest sense. Community Website Project
Summer 2007
The WRA continues to develop a community website to promote the village of Waverley. The website aims to be a central source of local information, promoting a greater sense of community and providing a venue for summer student employees to showcase and improve upon their design skills. This project was begun in the summer of 1999 and continued in the summer of 2007. Meetings
Second Thursday of each Month, 7:30 PM
The executive of the WRA usually meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Waverley Community Hall. These meetings are open to all Waverley homeowners. The Hall is located in the same building as the Waverley Heritage Museum at 2463 Rocky Lake Drive (formerly 1319 Rocky Lake Drive). All Waverley residents and property owners are welcome to attend these meetings and to contribute ideas for consideration by the Association. The Association is eager to attract new executive members with a strong interest in Waverley community affairs and the ability to attend one meeting per month at the Community Hall. |
