Scouts Canada: 2nd Waverley Group

Waverley has supported the traditions of Scouts Canada for more than 75 years. In 1925, Willoughby Goddard-Fenwick, Priest-in-Charge of St. John's Anglican Church, applied for a Charter for a Pack of Wolf Cubs. The Charter was granted on December 31, 1925. The Pack Committee members included Lieutenant T.C. McCotton, Chairman; Rev. Willoughby Goddard-Fenwick, Secretary; and Walter Major, Vice President. The Pack met on Fridays at 7PM and Saturdays at 2:15PM, at Rev. Goddard-Fenwick's residence or at the Church Hall. As Cubmaster, Rev. The youth in Waverley and the surrounding area have been able to participate in Scouts Canada, through the strong support of community groups and the volunteer efforts of many parents and leaders. The Sponsoring Organizations for the Group have included the Citizens' Group, the Waverley Home & School association, the Waverley Legion and our present sponsor, the Waverley Ratepayers Association. The Group was known as 1st Waverley until 1993, at which time it changed to 2nd Waverley.

In 2001-02, 2nd Waverley welcomed over 60 youth in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.
